Odisha Youth In 17-Member Indian Team For World Taekwondo Championship

Sonepur: Odisha’s Ehsaas Hota has been selected as the first and the only player from Odisha in the 17-member Indian team to take part in the World Taekwondo Chamspionship President’s Cup beginning on February 28 in Iran. He will also take part in the 30th Fajr Open Taekwondo Championship in Iran. Players from as many as 46 countries will compete in the elite martial art championships of World Taekwondo Federation (WTF). While the President’s Cup will kick off on February 28 and end on March 3 at Olympic Sports Square in the Iranian island of Kish, 30th Fajr Open will be organised on March 4 and 5. Earlier in May 2018, Ehsaas had won two gold medals at 2nd Kathmandu International Taekwondo Championship in Nepal. Not only this, Ehsas brought laurels for Odisha by wining gold medals at several national Taekwondo championships on nine different occasions. Korean Cultural Centre Director’s Cup Taekwondo Championship held in Delhi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first ever Korean Cultural Centre Director’s Cup Taekwondo Championship was recently held at Indira Gandhi stadium, Delhi. The event saw the participation of 570 players from pan India. With an aim of boosting the popularity of Taekwondo in India, Korean Cultural Centre India, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Indo Taekwondo Promotion Foundation organised the championship. The winners of this championship will participate in 2nd All India Inter SAI-Korean Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo Championship 2019 and will also undergo massive training in Nainital and South Korea. Kaniha: District Level Taekwondo Competition was organised at Recreation Centre, NTPC Kaniha recently i.e 10.02.2019. The competition was participated by 74 participants, out which 30 were awarded with yellow belt ,25 with Green Belt ,5 with Blue belt ,10 with Red belt and 4 with black belt were awarded during the competition. The participants were awarded with certificates for their achievement. On the occasion, Mentors Anubha Tripathy Mansi Samal , Sridevi Pradhan were felicitated for their outstanding contribution in Taekwondo sports. J&K wins 2nd runners-up trophy in National Taekwondo C’ship

J&K Taekwondo team after winning bronze medal in Nationals at Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Excelsior Sports Correspondent JAMMU, Feb 9: J&K Taekwondo Team emerged overall 2nd runners-up in the 4th Cadet National Kyorugi and Poomsae Taekwondo Championship which was held at JN Indoor Stadium, Periyamedu, Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The championship was organized by Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI), which is recognized by Indian Olympic Association (IoA). J&K bagged 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in the Championship with the support of chief coach Atul Pangotra, Physical Education Teacher in the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) and is the youngest Referee chairman of Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI). Balasore:  He might be just eight years old, but his agility is second to none. Soumya Ranjan Sethi, a boy of Nandor village of Khaira area of Balasore is a champion martial artist in Taekwondo and with his skill sets he has not only brought fame for his family and State but has become an inspiration for many. With his lightning-speed head height and spinning kicks, the 8-year-old prodigy has managed to master the skills of the martial art. Considering his passion for the martial art at a small age, family members of Soumya Ranjan enrolled him at a local Taekwondo coaching centre after which the boy never looked back. “I have won gold medals in Cuttack, Kolkata, and Delhi. I recently bagged a bronze medal in Goa. I feel blessed that with the support of my family I have been able to achieve this success,” Soumya Ranjan said.
