Hyderabad: Telangana’s Karan Tikaram bagged gold in the 35kg cadet boys category at the 1st Korean Culture Centre Director’s Cup Taekwondo Championship held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi. SN Leelavathi (46kg), T Gouthami (57kg) and Simran K Jain (67kg) from YMCA, Narayanguda won bronze medals in the senior girls event. The team is trained by coach D Vishwanath.

This Mumbaikar is teaching self-defence to underprivileged kids with free taekwondo lessons

Jaydeep Kadam has been teaching taekwondo to underprivileged kids for free at a municipal school in Chembur, Mumbai, since 2013; over 70 children attend his classes now, and he aims to open his own martial arts school soon. And  martial arts  are a very popular and  effective form of self-defence,  especially when learnt at a young age. Korean Cultural Centre Director’s Cup Taekwondo Championship held in Delhi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first ever Korean Cultural Centre Director’s Cup Taekwondo Championship was recently held at Indira Gandhi stadium, Delhi. The event saw the participation of 570 players from pan India. With an aim of boosting the popularity of Taekwondo in India, Korean Cultural Centre India, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Indo Taekwondo Promotion Foundation organised the championship.
